About the Town


Roseboom is located in Otsego County, New York.  The population was 711 at the 2010 census.  The town was created from part of the Town of Cherry Valley in 1854.  According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 33.1 square miles.  There are several hamlets and other known locations within the Town of Roseboom, including Pleasant Brook, South Valley, Butlers Corners, Center Valley, Honey Hill, Weber Corners, Winnie Hollow, and Belvedere Lake.  The Cherry Valley Creek flows southward near the west town line.  The town name is that of an early landowner and settlers, Abram and John Roseboom.  Surrounding towns include:  Westford, Decatur, Middlefield, Seward, Sharon Springs and Cherry Valley.

The Town of Roseboom's regular monthly board meetings and public hearings are held at the South Valley First Christian Church Fellowship Hall, located on State Hwy 165, South Valley, NY.  Meetings are at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month, unless otherwise posted.
